Land use and development restrictions on open space across the United States has forced developers and municipalities to evaluate alternatives for previously abandoned and environmentally impaired properties known as “Brownfields”. State and Federal agencies have enacted legislation to reimburse developers for certain cleanup costs, and will allow former industrial and commercial properties to be re-developed.
